Nude Modeling
Do you have to do Nude Modeling? Absolutely Not! Most modeling jobs do not involve full nudity. Will you be asked to do nude modeling or modeling with some degree of nudity? Yes, most likely, sometime, somewhere, for some reason. Many modeling jobs do involve extensive body exposure. Some modeling jobs involve partial nudity or sexy attire. An entirely different category of modeling jobs involve full nudity. And then there is porn. To begin with, if you are uncomfortable with your body, this is not the right career for you, but traditional modeling is not about nudity. Unfortunately, some young women who aspire to be models and actresses end up in the porn industry. This is absolutely the worst place to start your modeling career. If you end up in the porn trade, getting out can be difficult and making the transition back to standard modeling jobs is next to impossible. Despite some well publicized exceptions, if you end up in porn movies, porn pictures, or porn magazines, you can probably kiss your dreams of a modeling career goodbye. Many famous and not so famous models may have done some nude or partial nude shoots early in their careers, but nude or semi-nude modeling is not specifically categorized as porn and in some circles nude or semi-nude modeling may even be considered the ultimate in high fashion, particularly if the photographers are famous in their own right. Although most people who are not on the far right end of the socio-political spectrum can tell the difference between porn and nude art, there is also a large gray area in-between. If the US Supreme court cannot decide, who can? Over the past several decades, Playboy™ magazine, well-known photographers and others have brought a degree of respectability to nude modeling. Modeling, in general, is closely intertwined with sexuality and sexual symbolism. If for no other reason, this connection occurs because modeling basically exists to serve the advertising industry where sexuality is both King and Queen. If one includes the porn industry, the commercial demand for different levels and styles of nude modeling far exceeds all other types of modeling combined. However, consider your alternatives carefully before going in this direction and decide beforehand how far you are willing to go. If nude modeling is what you want or feel you need to do, whether as a career choice or as a starting point, that is one thing, but if someone promises you guaranteed stardom if you take your clothes off, be wary and consider other options first, like heading for the nearest exit.
