When is a model not a babe and vice versa? What is a "BABE" model? Well, there are models who are clearly "babes" and there are babes who are not models and do not wish to be, so actually these two terms have nothing to do with each other. The internet has fostered this connection and if you spend any time surfing the web, you have probably noticed many, many sites that claim to be model sites; however, the word "babe" is used incessantly. There may be thousands of them. Almost all of them are saturated with beautiful young women in various stages of undress or at a minimum, skimpy swimsuits and bikinis. As you can guess, real modeling agencies do not advertise for "babes" and this term is seldom used in the legitimate aspects of the modeling industry! Getting posted at a "babe modeling site" will probably neither be of great help nor of great hindrance to your modeling career. In some instances, one might either consider it as at least a start, a posting site for your portfolio or just a minor diversion while you are working in other directions. Nevertheless, swimsuit and bikini modeling is a legitimate and very large business with backing from major companies. Just making the cover of Sports Illustrated alone makes one worthy of supermodel status and swimsuit models involved in major events often receive extensive media coverage. There are many women who would never be able to compete in runway fashion modeling but who might do quite well in swimsuit modeling and vice versa. There are also agencies who specialize in this end of the modeling spectrum. Thus, entering swimsuit and bikini contests can be a legitimate aspect of the modeling business and may have possibilities if you are so inclined physically and mentally to go this direction. Be prepared! The competition is fierce here too just as it is in almost every type of modeling.
