Getting Discovered Super Models and Getting Discovered: There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a famous supermodel but then again, there is nothing wrong with wanting to be the President either. In reality, most people will be neither and the odds are statistically not in your favor. SuperModels are the end result of a carefully packaged, managed, and heavily promoted process; yet, it is true that the discovery phase can happen quite unexpectedly or entirely by chance. Agents roam the four corners of the earth always looking for the next new face and your chances of being discovered at the beach or the shopping mall are not that much different than through more traditional venues. This statement does not imply that modeling candidates should just hang out at the beach or the mall and wait to be discovered because waiting and doing nothing is not a very pro-active or successful technique. Fortunately for those who wish to become models, the entire modeling industry is undergoing somewhat of a metamorphous and is expanding into entirely new markets with new types of models. Television has always been a more flexible medium and music videos with all their related formats opened up entirely new vistas for models to pursue, The internet is also becoming a major player in the modeling business for advertisers, agencies and models alike. What these changes mean to you is a wider and more flexible job market. The traditional image of the fashion runway model still exists but it no longer dominates. New technologies and new markets are redefining what models are supposed to look like and act like in a constantly evolving process.
The Internet SuperModel: What is that? Yes it exists. There are actually loose standards that define an online model as achieving supermodel status in the internet or cyberworld. To some extent this seems to depend upon who you ask or something similar like trying to determine just exactly how many world champion wrestlers there are at any given moment. This can depend on how many pageviews they earn, clicks, or links they have and so; and of course, they must have their own website and post their pictures anywhere and everywhere they can. Does this translate into real world fame and income. The answer is usually no; however, there are some women who have gained status in the external modeling and fashion worlds because of their status in the internet modeling world. This should surprise no one, because the media will always pay attention to anyone and everyone who is being paid attention to for whatever reasons. So yes, some enterprising young women have carved out a niche for themselves in the modeling world by using the power of the internet as their information medium. We predict we will all see much more of this in the future as communication vehicles continue their hybridization and merging into something we have yet to define. So, to answer the question, can the internet help you become a (successful) model? At this time, the answer still is YES NO MAYBE
